Dear Eurasia SIG members,
The SIG leadership invites you to participate in a discussion about the Eurasia SIG Identity. Since the inception of Eurasia SIG in 2009, we have raised and received questions from prospective members whether our definition - Eurasia - best represents us in a broader international community and serves the purpose of the CIES SIG. We invite you to share your opinions and thoughts on whether Eurasia name represents us best and seek your suggestions if it does not. Please respond to the following questions: 1) What does Eurasia SIG mean to you? 2) How should we define ourselves with respect to the name of the SIG? We hope this to be an engaging brainstorming and discussion process, and we welcome your ideas!
On our website, this is how we define Eurasia SIG:
“The Eurasia SIG was founded in 2009 to bring together scholars, researchers, and practitioners primarily concerned with education in Eurasia (*countries from Eastern/Central/Southern Europe and Central Asia, sharing Soviet/socialist legacies*). Our goal is to promote scholarship focused on all levels of education in the countries of Eurasia. We hope to foster a sense of community among our members, share current research in the field, and provide a valuable space for networking and dialoguing on education throughout the region.”
We very much look forward to hearing from you and invite you to share your ideas on the website!
