Eurasia SIG Best Graduate Paper Award, deadline February 10th

Dear Eurasia colleagues,

To support young scholars focusing on Eurasia, the CIES Eurasia SIG has established two awards for the Best Graduate Paper presented at the CIESConference. One award gives recognition to a significant paper that advances our understanding of education issues in the region written by a budding scholar pursuing graduate studies anywhere in the world; and the other award recognizes a budding scholar pursuing graduate studies at a university in the Eurasia region. Each winner will receive $250 upon attendance of the CIES Annual Conference and will be honored at the conference. The prize winners must attend and present their papers at the conference, though there is no obligation to use the money for conference related costs. In addition, the two Best Papers will be considered for publication in the peer-reviewed journal European Education.

Eligibility: Any graduate student enrolled in a program towards a graduate degree is eligible. The applicant must be registered as a student during the semester that the conference takes place, and his/her paper must be submitted to and accepted by the CIES to be presented at the conference during March8-13, 2015. The papers will be evaluated by a committee representing a range ofdisciplinary approaches. The evaluation criteria include originality, appropriate use of scholarly literature, and quality of writing. The paper maybe drawn from thesis work. Papers must be submitted electronically in English. All papers should be 7,000-8,000 words in length and conform to the stylerequirements of European Education. It is the author’s responsibility toensure that it is delivered in good order and on time.
