EURASIA SIG BEST PAPER AWARD

Dear Colleagues,

The CIES Eurasia SIG invites young scholars who study educational processes and transformations in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia to submit papers for the Best Graduate Paper Award. Two awards have been established by the SIG to support emerging scholars. Each winner will receive $250 upon attendance of the CIES Annual Conference and will be honored at the conference. The prize winners must attend and present their papers at the conference, though there is no obligation to use the money for conference related costs. In addition, the two Best Papers will be considered for publication in the peer-reviewed journal European Education.

Eligibility: Any graduate student enrolled in a program towards a graduate degree is eligible. The applicant must be registered as a student during the semester that the conference takes place, and his/her paper must be submitted to and accepted by the CIES to be presented at the conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The papers will be evaluated by a committee representing a range of disciplinary approaches. The evaluation criteria include originality of research, appropriate use of scholarly literature, and quality of writing. The paper may be drawn from thesis work. Papersmust be submitted electronically in English. All papers should be 5,000-7,000 words in length and conform to the style requirements of European Education. It is the author’s responsibility to ensure that it is delivered in good order and on time.
